Footworks

NJ Youth Soccer is proud to introduce Footworks, a comprehensive educational process that addresses best practices to develop basic movement skills and ball control. The goal is to develop young soccer players who are not only more competent, but more confident and as a result and more motivated to play. Footworks combines a teaching methodology, curriculum, and consulting services. NJ Youth Soccer Coaching School Instructors will come out to your location to observe, provide advice, recommendations, strategies for effective implementation of developmentally appropriate training and playing formats.

WHAT IS FOOTWORKS?

Footworks is a comprehensive educational program for recreational coaches and parents to improve the coaching technique, ball control and understanding of the physical aspect of the game. It combines a teaching methodology, curriculum, and consulting services.

Specifically, this program provides for NJYS Coaching School Instructors that come to your program to:

WHAT ARE THE GOALS AND OUTCOMES?

1. Provide a no-cost program and benefit to NJYS Recreation members.
2. Promote coaching education.
3. Improve the quality of programming at the grassroots level.
4. Provide advice, recommendations, strategies for effective implementation of developmentally appropriate training and playing formats.

HOW DOES MY PROGRAM GET INVOLVED?

To participate, complete the following steps.

Step 1: Send in a Footworks Application to Host.
Step2: If approved to participate, NJYS Coaching School Instructor will instruct a NJYS "F" Course (at a reduced cost).
Step 3: NJYS Coaching Schools Instructor will visit your club/organization for a day, run a "Y" Field Clinic and observes Recreation Programming.
Step 4: NJYS Coaching School Instructor will complete a report that provides feedback and recommendations to improve your program.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?

Except for the F course registration which will be offered at a reduced cost, there is no cost for NJYS recreation clubs to participate. It is expected that the host club will provide facilities and fields connected to the Footworks initiative at no cost to NJYS.
